Protective effect of Juglans regia L. (walnut) leaves extract against indomethacin induced gastric mucosal damage in rats

Indomethacin, an anti-inflammatory agent used for pain, fever and inflammation, causes severe lesions in the gastrointestinal tract humans animals. For this reason, there has been increase search new compounds that can help prevent and/or alleviate these caused by indomethacin. The aim of present study is to evaluate gastroprotective effect Juglans regia administration against indomethacin induced gastric lesion. A total forty rats were divided equally among four groups experiments. Groups designed as Control (C), Indomethacin (IND), + (JR+IND), Pantoprazole (PAN+IND). Following 7-day adaptation period, substance applications (pantoprazol extract) made 10 days. In IND, JR+IND PAN+IND administered 100 mg/kg single dose on day 11th. significant increases stomach IL-6 TNF-α levels compared with C group (respectively, p<0.001, p<0.01). showed a lower IND C-reactive protein (CRP) Cyclo-oxygenase-2R (COX-2R) increased (p<0.001). There was decrease CRP COX-2R after PAN JR treatment COX-2, proinflammatory cytokines seen main target inflammatory diseases. As result; it determined protective effect, which may be related markers, damage
